I haven’t posted a Blog post in a while and I have been super inconsistent but TBH my life has been chaotic these past two months! But that’s a story for another time.
It’s my wedding in two weeks (yay!) and I’ve been planning it and waiting in anticipation for a year now. It’s feels like 10 years but whatever. I never would have thought I would be someone to be so excited and predantic about every little detail for a wedding because a few years ago I had no intention of ever getting married. I told Mike that we could happily be together forever without tying the knot. Things changed though and I had a huge shift. Many people hate weddings, think they are old fashioned, a waste of money – blah blah blah. I used to be one of those people. I changed my mind when I met and fell inlove with the right person and I so desperately want to celebrate my love with him and the rest of my family + friends. That’s why I think weddings are worth it. At least in my opinion – and that all that matters right????
I will be posting a full wedding blog in a month or so after all the festivities but here is a clue as to what my imagination has thought up and what I hope to bring to life on the day.
“People of our time are losing the power of celebration. Instead of celebrating we seek to be amused or entertained. Celebration is an active state, an act of expressing reverence or appreciation. To be entertained is a passive state–it is to receive pleasure afforded by an amusing act or a spectacle…. Celebration is a confrontation, giving attention to the transcendent meaning of one’s actions.
